The first and most important thing when applying for an e-passport is to know what documents are required to apply for a new e-passport and collect them. Currently, the application process is a bit easier than the previous MRP passport. Now, the documents required for an e-passport do not have to be authenticated like before. This has reduced the hassle of authentication. Let's see what is required to make a passport.

National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) Certificate (according to the following age)

Online Birth Registration (BRC) Certificate if below 18 years

National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) Certificate if 18-20 years

National Identity Card (NID) or Online Birth Registration (BRC) Certificate if above 20 years

Now this is the only document that is original and required to apply for a passport. However, depending on your profession, marital status and passport office, several additional papers may be required. They are as follows:

Professional proof (such as student ID if you are a student, job ID if you are a job holder, trade license if you are a businessman, land register if you are a farmer, etc.)

Professional certificate for doctors, engineers, drivers, lawyers and other professions

NOC or Government Order (GO) for government employees

Citizenship certificate

Kabinnama if the name of the husband or wife is newly added to the passport (required for minors)

Original copy and photocopy of the data page of any previous passports

National Identity Card (NID) of their parents for applicants below 18 years

Applicants below 15 years of age must provide passport size photograph of parents or passport size photograph of legal guardian

For applicants below 6 years of age, passport size photograph and lab print color photograph on 3R size (white background) matte paper

Also, passport offices in Dhaka may require utility bills, rental agreements, etc. to prove your current address.
